Brittany & Ian | A Beautiful Forest Park Engagement Session

Some engagement sessions keep you on your toes in the best way, and Brittany and Ian’s Forest Park evening was definitely one of those. It was an unseasonably hot September day, the kind where you step out of the car and immediately wonder why you bothered doing your hair. And just to add a twist, the spot we originally planned for had suddenly been taken over by a full symphony concert — surprise!

But honestly? It all worked out perfectly.

We wandered toward the Nature Playscape, and the light there was pure magic. Soft, glowy, warm… the kind of light photographers dream about. The black-eyed Susans were in full bloom, stretching across the hillside like a yellow blanket. Brittany and Ian fell into an easy rhythm together, laughing between takes, wiping sweat, and embracing the chaos of the evening. The photos from that stretch of the park feel so relaxed and real — exactly what an engagement session should be.

As sunset got closer, we made our way up to the World’s Fair Pavilion. That view never disappoints. The sky dipped into gold, the whole park stretched out below us, and everything slowed down for a minute. Brittany and Ian wanted to personalize their session in a way that felt true to how their story started, so they brought Sieberg’s pizza and a couple of cold beers.

They met in a pizza shop… so sharing a pizza at sunset overlooking the Nathan Frank “Kerth” Fountain just felt right. They sat on the hill, split slices, toasted with their beers, and soaked in the moment. It wasn’t posed or polished — it was simple, sweet, and incredibly them.

By the time the last bit of sun slid behind the trees, their pizza box was empty and the heat finally started to settle. The whole evening, unexpected detours and all, ended up being beautiful.
